Mounting

Sticks where you need it, lifts off clean

The kit uses velcro pads rather than screws or glue, so the board can move from one room to another without marking the surface underneath.

Tip Four pairs: one soft side on the back of the mat, one hook side on the wall.

Fitting

How to fit it

Takes a couple of minutes and needs no tools.

  1. 1

Clean the wall or furniture surface so there is no dust or grease on it.

  2. 2

Take the velcro pads supplied. Each pair is one soft and one hook side — there are four pairs. Press each pair together first.

  3. 3

Peel the white backing off one side of a pad and stick it to one of the four corners on the back of the mat.

  4. 4

Peel the backing off the other side and press the mat onto the wall or furniture where you want it.

  5. 5

Hold the mat against the surface for about 10 seconds so the adhesive sets.

Measurements

A board that fits the wall it hangs on

At 38 × 30 cm and 0.5 cm thick, it covers roughly the width of a cat’s stretch, so the cat can reach up and pull down without stepping off the surface.

At 210 g it stays up on four small pads, and it can be moved between rooms without leaving a mark.

Details

What makes it a scratcher

Hangs like wall art

A woven sisal mat at 38 × 30 cm with a colour-matched border, so it reads as art rather than cat furniture.

No residue, no drill

Four pairs of velcro pads hold it up. Take it down and the wall or furniture is left as it was.

Woven sisal

A woven sisal face for claws that keeps the whole board light at 210 g.

Wall, sofa or cabinet

Any flat, clean surface with enough room: a hallway wall, the side of a sofa, a cabinet door.

A Woven Cat Scratcher That Hangs Like Wall Art

Cats scratch to stretch, to mark territory and to shed the outer layer of their claws. Because the instinct is strongest near the spots the household already uses, a scratcher put up at the door or beside the sofa gets used far more than one hidden in a corner. Two problems usually follow: most scratchers look like cat furniture, and the ones meant to be mounted leave screws or glue in the wall.

This board is wall art first and a scratcher second. Each mat carries one of four cat-themed artworks — Starry Night, Sunflowers, Meow with a Pearl Earring and Cypress Field — across a woven sisal face, finished with a colour-matched woven border. It hangs at eye level like a small wall hanging on a hallway wall, the side of a sofa or a cabinet door, and the sisal face is what the cat actually touches.

It mounts with four pairs of velcro pads, one side on the back of the mat and one on the surface, so no drill or glue is needed and nothing is left behind when it moves to another room. At 210 g it stays on four small pads, and the woven surface is firm enough for a full stretch.

Good to know

Frequently asked questions

How does the board attach to a wall or piece of furniture?

It uses four pairs of velcro pads: one side sticks to the corners on the back of the woven mat, the other side sticks to the wall, sofa or cabinet. No drill, screws or glue are involved.

Will the pads damage the wall or my furniture?

The pads are designed to come away without leaving adhesive behind, so the board can be moved between rooms. They need a clean, flat surface — dust, grease or rough texture stops them holding.

What is it made of?

A woven sisal scratching surface finished with a colour-matched woven border. The whole board weighs 210 g.

What size is it, and how does it suit a cat?

It measures 38 × 30 × 0.5 cm, which covers roughly the width of a cat stretching upward, so the cat can pull down on it without stepping off the surface.

How do I fit it?

Clean the surface, press the four velcro pairs together, peel one backing and stick a pad to each back corner of the mat, peel the other backing and press the mat onto the surface, then hold it for about 10 seconds.

Which designs are available?

Four: Starry Night, Sunflowers, Meow with a Pearl Earring and Cypress Field — each woven in sisal and finished with a border in a colour that matches the artwork.
