The Humidity Threshold That Matters

Mold spores exist in many indoor environments, but moisture is the condition that allows them to become a larger problem. When relative humidity is kept below 50%, indoor conditions are much less favorable for mold growth.

As humidity remains above 60%, damp surfaces and stagnant spaces can create a more supportive environment for spores, allergens and musty odors.

Keep Indoor Air in a Healthier Range

Controlling temperature or changing a building’s materials can be difficult. Controlling moisture is often more direct. A correctly sized dehumidifier can help maintain a relative humidity target in the 30%–50% range.

Capacity is usually measured in liters or pints per day, while airflow determines how effectively the unit can circulate air through the room. Together, these specifications help create a more stable indoor environment.
